The Many Faces of a Dog

When choosing a dog, it’s pretty important to look for one that has a good personality. One that seems well-adjusted, one that will be easy to train, and hopefully one that won’t shed so much that you could make a quilt from its fur.Â
Â
In choosing our dog, these were some of our basic criteria. And we feel like we did pretty well. As you can see from the picture below, our puppy is the model dog. Sweet, angelic, loves to please his owners…Â
Has a great sense of humor and knows how to take a joke…Â
And even works on the side as a Pointer. (You should see him chasing rabbits in the back yard!)Â
What we didn’t know before we brought him home, was how he could go from full-speed hysteria, to lethargic and almost comatose in the space of five seconds.Â
We didn’t know about the constant backtalking that we would receive – I mean really, it’s worse than a teenager sometimes!Â
Â
We also didn’t realize that everything, and I do mean everything, would go directly into his mouth, whether it belongs there or not.
Â
Â
And then there’s the pouting. Oh, the pouting. Apparently we just don’t understand how hard his life really is!
“Can someone please make them leave me alone?”Â
But not withstanding all of these little quirks, looking past the many complexities of our little bundle of fur, the real reason we brought him home, and the reason that we continue to keep him, is because he makes us happy. And when he gives us a smile like this, how can we not be?Â

Oh my, what a cutie! I saw an apricot cock-a-poo puppy in the pet store one day and went bonkers over him, but having a dog isn’t something we can do. We have a cat and she’s 18. I had her all her life and now that she’s aging it’s especially like caring for a baby. It’s a commitment that I just couldn’t undertake again… but I say that now. ;^ )

Thanks Margie – glad to have you here! I took about a hundred pictures with my camera really fast and just happened to get him “smiling.” Thanks for the comments – you’re sweet!

ps – someone asked why he was on a leash. When he was brand-new, we’d sometimes keep the leash on him to keep him from wandering around or to help us get him if he took off. Now he doesn’t need it of course, but back then it really helped.

We have a white cockapoo. I used to keep her on a leash and put the loop around my ankle just to train her. We did this after she into the upstairs bathroom and unrolled three rolls of TP before we found her.

Oh – I love white cockapoos! I also love chocolate brown merle – that’s what I want for our next one. Isn’t it funny how they just love toilet paper? I don’t know what it is…
