Meeting the Parents (Pt. 2)

We started our journey early in the morning.  The snow had melted and it was a sunny, beautiful day – a perfect day for driving.  The CPA wanted to take the back roads so that we could get a feel for the area.  It also gave us a chance to stop by some small towns where he either spent time as a child or had family.

It was truly beautiful country.  Parts of it were also very barren.

I love to visit Utah because it’s a beautiful place, but I have to say that it’s kind-of frightening with its vast and open spaces.  I always feel a bit claustrophobic driving out into the big blue yonder.  I know it sounds strange that wide open spaces make me feel closed in, but what can I say, I miss my trees.

Nonetheless, it was a nice drive.  We saw all of the wildlife that you would expect to see: birds, deer,

more deer…

horses…

Wait a minute… Horses?  Yep – surprised me too.  Wild horses were just walking along the middle of the road like they owned it.

This one made me really sad… with his ribs showing like that, I think he was probably pretty hungry.

So hungry, that he had no problem walking right up to the car to look for food.

Unfortunately, we had none to give him.

So they continued on their way.

So did we.
