The reception was on a tight schedule. We had reserved the banquet room from the hours of 10-2:00 which didn’t leave a lot of time for dilly-dallying. It may sound hurried, but I wanted it that way actually. I didn’t want to force people to go to an all day thing so that they would have the rest of their day available. I also didn’t want to be exhausted that night (little did I know we were going to be exhausted regardless).

According to our schedule, we were running a bit behind. Pictures had taken longer than we planned so we had about five minutes to eat. It was okay for me since I couldn’t really eat anyway. The CPA, however, was a hungry boy. Hungry or not, it was time to move on to the next part of our program – the Toast.

I had honestly not given a lot of thought to this since I didn’t have to do anything but sit back and listen. Since I didn’t know what to expect, I was blown away by how well prepared the best man was. He told stories about how he and the CPA had worked together years ago and he gave details about some of the things they’ve done through the years. Nothing incriminating of course and the stories were cute and funny. Then he started talking about the CPA’s distate for clowns.

I should stop here and say that I wish I could figure out how to upload the video because it was truly one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. The best man began telling stories of how much my husband dislikes clowns or anything to do with clowns. In fact, one year the best man had hired a clown to come to the office for my husband’s birthday just to see what he’d do!
Anyway, as he’s telling these stories, he brings out a bag and said that he wanted to give us a little something to help.

Then he pulls out this shirt…

And now that I’m part of the family, he said I should have one too, so he pulled out the next shirt. (I don’t have a picture of this shirt, but it looks the same only smaller).
And, just in case this honeymoon trip results in a baby in nine months, we’ll have this…

I can’t remember the last time I laughed that hard.

The toast was perfect – it was both sentimental and humorous. I couldn’t have asked for a better tribute to both the CPA and myself.
