As I wrote in my previous review, I finished Twilight in record time. But the story doesn’t end there, which means I had to rush out and buy the next book in the series. It’s not my fault of course. The publishers put the first chapter of the next book, New Moon, at the back of Twilight and after reading it, I couldn’t very well stop could I?
Needless to say, New Moon was an easy read just as Twilight had been. Bella and Edward continue on their journey but this time, Bella’s friend, Jacob, is a large part of the story. I won’t go into all of the details for those who haven’t read it, but I will say that vampires aren’t the only “monsters” in Fork, WA. And poor Bella – she just attracts all kinds-of trouble, doesn’t she?
But I still like her. And Edward… well, that goes without saying. New Moon focuses on Bella’s character a little more this time and we get inside her head as she struggles with recent events in her life. I feel for the poor girl actually. I’m reminded of some of the relationship drama that I’ve gone through and it’s never easy for anyone. So it’s rather bittersweet to read about the problems she has.
All-in-all it is an enjoyable read. Not as spell-binding as Twilight, but the story is so different that it is intriguing. I definitely liked Twilight better, but overall I was pleased with New Moon too.
Now it’s on to the third book in the serious, Eclipse. Can’t wait!!
Any other Twilight Series fans out there?
