A Little Friday Gratitude – The End of a Cold

The cold that I’ve been fighting this week is finally starting to get better.  My head is still stuffy yet my nose is running (you would think if your head was stuffy, there wouldn’t be anything to run, huh?).  I’ve gone through almost a whole box of tissues and I’ve dealt with bouts of violent sneezing.  The worst part of having a head cold, though, is the lack of focus that comes with it.  There is medicine for coughing, aches, fevers, sneezing, runny nose, etc., but you don’t hear about the lack of concentration.  That’s my worst symptom.

So, rather than trying to make sense of the random thoughts struggling to make their way through the stuffiness that is my head, I am going to list the things that I am grateful for today in the hopes that they will make a little more sense than my incoherent ramblings.  Here goes:

  • I am grateful that it is Friday.  Thank goodness it’s Friday!
  • I am grateful for good health, especially now when I am somewhat lacking it.
  • I am grateful for my family, even though it may not have seemed like it during some of our pre-wedding, stress-filled moments this past week.
  • I am grateful for the cool air outside and the colorful leaves that the cool air brings.
  • I am grateful to have an office door that I can close when I have a cold and I need to take a nap.
  • And last, but not least, I am grateful for Nyquil because it makes it possible to sleep with a cold.

Now it’s your turn, what are you grateful for today?

SO MANY THINGS! I hear you on the being grateful for health after you’ve been sick. I’m SO grateful for my health, my healthy son and husband, my AMAZING family (especially my inlaws who have become my main staple) and my beautiful twin sister… she helps me keep my sanity too. I’m grateful to be off work today to go for a walk in the cool morning air with my son…. Should I continue? :)
Have a great weekend!

I am thankful, too, that it is Friday and I’ll get to see my 2 yr. old granddaughter this weekend. She is such a joy. Also, I’m grateful that I’m getting over my cold too, although it is still in my chest. Read…bad cough. But it’s getting better too. I’m grateful for my husband and family. Also, my job. Thanks.

I love your list.

I am mostly grateful for my family, and also to be living in sunny California.

I am grateful for a good job offer that I got today.

What is your profession?

Isabelle - November 15, 2008 - 2:17 am

@ kristina – watch out for the wonderful Swiss landscapes and the Swiss German that you hear in one of the telephone conversations ;-) )

Greetings from Switzerland, where Craig suffered from a cold and relaxed in a hotel here in Zurich instead of going to the premiere.

Hi everyone – so glad to hear from you and I love your list of things you’re grateful for! And Kristina and Isabelle -I’m jealous that you’ve seen the new movie, i can’t wait to see it! In answer to your question, I’m in HR (nothing too exciting). Diana – I hope you feel better! have a great weekend!

Hi partner, I am in HR too, management development to be precise. I didn’t see the new Bond yet and won’t either, because I don’t care for that sort of film …. but the premiere here had a lot of coverage as the regisseur is Swiss and some scenes/ actors were from here. Hope your cold is better; have a good start into a new and interesting week. ;-) )

Late to the party, but I’m grateful for space heaters. My office is soooo cold!
