It hit me this morning – Christmas Eve is exactly one month from today. That means that I have approximately two and a half weeks of internet shopping (if I don’t want to pay overnight shipping, three and a half weeks if I do) and four Saturday trips to the mall. That doesn’t leave a lot of time, especially considering I really hate going to the mall around the holidays. I tried it this weekend and even though I arrived shortly after it opened, the parking lot was full and the place was a zoo.
I was thinking about this as I was getting ready this morning, which is why I told the CPA he had to get me his shopping list today. Being the good CPA that he is, he had already figured out our Christmas budget so it’s just a matter of buying the gifts. And I didn’t have to wait long for his list. As he was leaving for work, he told me he wanted a Wii. A Wii, I asked? You mean one of those stand-in-line-for-five-hours- impossible to-get Wii’s? I started to panic a little but then I thought that maybe that was last year. Maybe this year they’re completely passé and the kids have moved on to the next hot item (we’re usually a little behind the times on these things). Maybe it will be easy to find and I can just order it online.

Or maybe not… I looked at Best Buy and was excited to see it listed in their online store. That is until I went to put it in my shopping cart only to discover that it is sold out on their website. Hmm… perhaps this won’t be as easy as I thought. I’ll have to do some more research today, but I’m going to remain hopeful. And I’m excited – I realize the Wii is classified as a game, but it’s becoming so much more than that. Apparently it can connect to the internet and it can be used to show your digital pictures through your tv. I’ve also read articles about senior citizens using it to simulate activities such as bowling and tennis.

It can even be used for cathesthenetics and yoga!

So, I will look for a Wii - I will be diligent, I will perservere, and I will be clever. (And I will shop online until the wee hours (get it – Wii??) of the morning if need be.) Because if that’s what my CPA wants, then I’m going to do what I can to get it for him, even if it means standing in line for five hours.
What about you? What’s on your Christmas list? And if you have a Wii, are there any good games that you’d recommend?
