It was 16 months ago yesterday that the CPA and I were married.

16 months that have been wonderful and sweet and short. The time has literally flown by. And today, the day that he leaves to go out west to visit his folks (which leaves me at home by myself, missing him) I am grateful for him for so many reasons.
Chivalry
The CPA proves to me time and again that chivalry is not dead. He does this in little ways like opening my door, letting me get first in line, and carrying all my bags (like in the picture below). He does these things without having to be asked to and even seems to enjoy it.

Kindness
My husband is one of the kindest, most gentle people I know. His size may be initially intimidating, but his kind smile immediately wins people over. It’s one of the things that first attracted me to him.

Willingness to Serve
The CPA is always busy and I do mean always. Between working long hours, going to school, seeing his sons and spending time with me, he hardly sits still. Which is why I am so so amazed that he takes the time to serve others. For example, a few weeks ago we received a call that a neighbor, whom we didn’t know very well, was in the hospital. My husband took the time to go visit him that night. He’s such an example to me of what it means to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

His Hands
The CPA gives me a foot rub every night. It’s a ritual that we have actually. We eat dinner, sit in front of the tv for a while, and he rubs my feet. I am grateful to have a husband who takes the time to do little things like this to show that he cares.

These are just a few of the many reasons that I am grateful for my husband, the CPA. Especially today, as he leaves to go out of town, I find that I am particularly mindful of these things. It’s because of these things and many more, that I am counting the hours until he returns.
