In the six months that I’ve been doing this site, I’ve read some interesting stories through your reader comments. Some have been poignant, some sad, and some downright hilarious. I’ve heard from people who have had similar experiences as me and other whose experiences vary greatly. The point is, all of these stories have made me a better person for having read them.
See, there are times when I struggle with the content that I’m writing because it’s hard for me to “put myself out there.” Even though the stuff I write about isn’t all that controversial, for me it’s still quite personal and I sometimes worry about broadcasting my personal feelings for anyone to see. And while I do the blog for me as a means to chronicle my story (such as it is), it’s been a pleasant bonus to receive so many comments from each of you in return.
I can’t tell you what your stories mean to me. Some of them make me laugh out loud and all of them put a smile on my face. And some have touched me so much that I call the CPA just to share your comments with him (he reads them all faithfully, btw, and enjoys them as much as I do).
All of this to say that your stories are an inspiration. So much so that they have inspired me to share them with others. As you know, our focus right now is on trying to get pregnant. It has been so helpful to read the experiences of others and to know that I am not alone in my fears and challenges. Well, I think that other people will benefit from that knowledge too. I believe in the old adage that there is safety in numbers and I think the same holds true when talking about experiences – there is comfort in knowing that others have gone through or are going through the same thing and that we are not alone.
So, without further ado, I introduce to you my new site, Experiencing Motherhood, Real Stories, Real People. It’s a place where you can share your stories with others who may benefit from them, just as I have. It will have a little bit of everything – funny things your children have done, (or embarrassing things they’ve done too), challenges you’ve had as a parent and how you’ve overcome them, and of course, birthing and pregnancy stories (can never have too many of those)! Here are some of the categories, just to give you an idea:
- Birthing Complications
- Trying to Conceive
- Pregnancy While Working
- Adoption
- Pregnancy Over 35
- Parenting Advice
- Parenting – Funny Stories
Take a look when you have a moment and then drop me an email with something you’d like to share, if you feel so inclined. It’s just a matter of sending me your story and I’ll post it on the site. You can do it anonymously, you can add a picture if you want, you can even ask me to refer to your own blog. The thing is, it’s about your stories and experiences. It’s about reaching out and sharing with others and putting a smile on their face. And if it helps someone else feel that they’re not alone and they are able to get encouragement from your words, then it’ll be worth it.
After all, everybody has a story to tell, with or without their own blog…

PS – a shoutout to Brandi of BrandiAnn Graphics for making such a fantastic banner for the site!!
