There’s something about finding good deals. I think that’s why I like eBay so much – it is both thrilling and frustrating at the same time. Thrilling because it offers the ability to find a great shopping deal and the opportunity to participate in an auction. Frustrating, because you can’t see the item that you’re bidding on and you have to trust in the integrity of the seller/buyer. Another great thing about eBay is that it allows you to sell items that otherwise would remain sitting in a pile at the bottom of your closet. (That’s why I have been using it these past few weeks.)
So even though I haven’t been browsing its stores lately in search of a good deal, it’s been tempting. I mean who couldn’t use a deer antler light fixture?

Or a “NUDE NAKED MODEL MALE MAN GREEK ROMAN GARDEN PEDESTAL“? Which can be yours for the low price of $179.00 plus shipping.
(Parental discretion advised)

In all seriousness though, I do like using eBay to find the random gift at a good price. For example, I was able to find some of the older Alfred Hitchcock thrillers for my husband for a very reasonable price. I’ve used it to buy purses and scarves and even shoes.
And when I can’t find something on eBay, I turn to my other shopping love: Amazon. Amazon and I go way back, all the way to 2002. We definitely have a win-win relationship. It offers me good deals and I return on a regular basis to spend my money, so we both win.
It’s the first place I go to buy things like books, DVDs, even face cream. I don’t know how they manage to offer such low prices, but it seems to work. You can buy goods from other sellers through them as well as used goods. I’m all about the used goods. If I can buy a book for $2.00 plus shipping, I’ll do that in a heartbeat rather than buy it new.
All of this thinking about shopping has me curious about what bargains I’ve actually found through Amazon. Good thing they have a history of all of my purchases. Let’s see… my most recent item was the paperback 24 Hours by Greg Iles.

I usually really enjoy books by Greg Iles, not so much this time. Good thing I only paid a penny. Yep, only one cent. Shipping cost me $3.99 for a grand total of four dollars!
I see that back in November I saved some money on the Wii Nunchuck and remote controller that I bought for Christmas presents. And I got free shipping too, which is always a bonus.

And in August, I treated myself to a new lens, the Nikon 50mm f/1.8, for the bargain basement price of $114.95!

It doesn’t get much better than that folks!
That’s why I love shopping on eBay and Amazon – you can get great deals without ever having to leave your home.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go place a bid on that antler lamp!
Are you a discount shopper? Where do you find good deals?
