What A Makeover!

I think I have made no secret of the love we have for our dog Oscar.  He’ll be two in August and has really grown up in the past several months.  He’s grown out too.

His fur, that is.

1

In fact, some may say that he’s grown it out a little too long.

4

I can see why they’d say that.  Come to think of it, we had wondered why he kept walking into walls, but we figured he just wasn’t paying attention.

3

But looking at these pictures, I’m thinking that maybe he just couldn’t see.  Poor little guy.

So we took him to the groomer this weekend.  As much as it seemed to freak him out, it really was a necessity for him and for us.  We dropped him off in the morning and picked him up several hours later looking shiny and new.

5

And skinny.  Oh my goodness, I think he lost 10 pounds!  (I wonder if this works on humans?)

9

He also looks like a completely different dog.  In fact, I was worried when I first saw him.  Was he even ours?  They could have done a little switcheroo in the back and I would have never known.

8

But then he looked up at me with that sweet little face and I thought, he’s ours all right.  I’d recognize those eyes anywhere.

6

Well, now that I can seem them.

Oh my goodness, what a change. He looks so sweet though. His name fits him too. :)

So, so, so cute! :)

The same thing happened to Rico, my parents’ poodle-Schnauzer mix, except he kept hiding under the table. Feeling naked and embarrassed, I think, but they do look so different after they’re groomed!

Aww Mama! How could you question my identity? hehe :) My Lilly looks the same way when I take her in and they cut her really short–like a totally different dog (and teeny) but same sweet face :)

On my gosh—-what a difference!!! I love him with his curly hair – could you just clip the hair around the eyes and leave the rest curly? But he’s so adodable with his new “clipped” look too. Those eyes are a killer – postively adorable. I can see why you guys love him so much. And now he won’t be hitting any walls -Yea!!!
Hey Oscar…….

Mindee - June 9, 2009 - 6:10 am

What is Oscar? We have a black standard poodle who is in similar shaggy shape right now. We’re headed to the groomer this afternoon.

He is adorable!!! I see why you love him so much. :) And even if he didn’t LIKE the groomers, maybe he feels better without all that extra heat on him for summer. :)

Wow! What a difference a little haircut makes =)

In our case, Hank really walks into walls because he’s not paying attention. His fur isn’t that long so he has no excuse. Sweet, cute, moron dog lol.

I always feel so bad for dogs when they get shaved! At least you can see his eyes. I prefer my dogs fluffy.

Okay, you may be seeing a sweet little face but I’m seeing a dog that says, “I can’t believe you did this to me! And now you wanna take my PICTURE so EVERYone can see me? Oh for dogssake!” His eyes look so accusing. LOL!

How cute he looks and he will be so much cooler! I had several poodles growing up and Oscar definitely has poodle hair.

I love it when we have Mattie groomed (about once a month). She smells sooooo good! If you tell her she’s going to see Miss Becky, her ears go up. We know she doesn’t like it, but she has to go.

Oh my goodness, what an adorable little doodle face he has! I know those eyes all too well myself. And I know the feeling of waiting too long for his first haircut.

How funny! When Schnitzel got his first cut he came home looking like a little meercat rather than the fluffy ball of fur I left there. It made me a little sad at the time. But, as you know, it will grow back!

What happened to Oscar? That trimmed dog is not him is it? Looks so different! Looks like he joined the Marines.
