Hi, Does milk help in pregnancy heartburn? I am 30 weeks pregnant and for 2-3 days now, I wake up in the middle of the night with heartburn and sweating. Someone said milk will help. I will call up my doc tomorrow but wanted a general opinion. Will milk help? What are other household remedies (dont wanna drug myself with meds)

Well, of course, I have to remind my boys as well. Kids can be forgetful. They have to know who mom is - train them, encourage / build good habits. My aunt told me that I needed more patience when dealing with the boys.

I didn't really have morning sickness and I am so so sorry that you do =( I have so much respect for women who survive morning sickness because I got so tired the first trimester that I felt like I couldn't possibly do anything more than lay around and sleep, much less fight off nausea.

My SIL had some pretty nasty morning sickness too. She said that what helped her was eating some wheat crackers and cheese in the dead of the night, always making sure her stomach had a little in it but not too much. I also remember her downing ginger ale like nobody's business. But yeah, that's all I've got. Good luck! I hope it subsides soon and lets you enjoy all the wonder of the last two trimesters =)

LOL, sorry, but this was cute. I am sorry you are so sick.
I had it for 9 solid months with my first. Pure torture. My second, about seven months. By the time I was having my third, I discovered that wheat and dairy really, really make me sick. So, it is now somewhat bearable if I can avoid those two categories.
Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!

First off, Congratulations!! I have some catching up to do, but I am so happy to hear that you are expecting.
It is so nice to see two such wonderful people get what they hope for.

I think being with someone who is in the Military is keeping me busy/worried enough so I am nowhere even near this point, but I just wanted to tell you if I ever am someday, it's nice for me to know that I will have this wonderful blog to come back to for reference and advice, etc.
For now, I will just keep praying for you and your (new) family.
Take Care Tabitha :)

Congratulations Tabitha, parenthood is a wild but worthwhile ride.
With my first, the morning sickness was 24/7 and lasted until the sixth month. I could only eat watermelon and scrambled eggs with Pace piquante sauce. Fast food commercials on TV would make me heave, I couldn't step into a grocery store and I sat on the patio while by DH cooked his dinner. The doctor lectured me on pregnancy not being the time to diet and how I would have to be hospitalized for a "feeding program", the dweeb. My son was born just fine by the way, a whooping 9lbs 15ozs. Since then I have discovered a great homemade ginger ale. It has helped my kids when they have stomach flu and it has helped a couple of folks through chemo. Get someone to make this for you.

1 1/2 C fresh ginger -- sliced thin
1 1/2 C sugar
1 1/2 C water
1/2 C lemon juice
club soda or plain seltzer -- chilled

No need to peel ginger, just slice it very thin. You will need a strainer after cooking ginger.
Combine ginger, sugar and water in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stir often. Maintain gentle boil until it reaches consistency of pancake syrup, approx 20 minutes.
Strain ginger syrup into a container and allow to cool.
When cool stir in lemon juice.
Store in refrigerator.
Add two tablespoons of ginger syrup to for each 6 ounces of chilled club soda or seltzer, stir gently. Add ice if desired.

Good luck!

There is an old saying, "Adults don't make kids; kids make adults." The morning sickness is one of the first things that make you realize you're not in Oz anymore. But the WONDERFUL things they will teach you are innumerable, and fulfilling, and completing.

I did have morning sickness. And daytime sickness. And night sickness. It did pass around four months. I just lived with retching. But it ain't fun. Sympathies poor dearie. You can be happy and still not love the yucky part!

I know you feel like you've heard it all. And I've been there and maybe a bit further then you as I have had HG-http://hyperemesis.org/
but I wanted to share that for me, nibbling watermelon helped me a lot. And mainly I had to be very still a lot to help me focus on keeping things down.

And this last pregnancy I had to do a nasal wash in the morning to help with my morning puke. It made it less severe because it would wash away some of the gunk that would slowly go down my throat when I woke up. Normal stuff you don't realize is there till you get pregnant.

Anyways both of my pregnancies ended me me about 15-20 lbs UNDER my pre-pregnancy weight. But my babies were healthy.

Good luck dealing with all of the "fun" pregnancy comes with. :)
