I’m sitting here writing this on a Saturday night. ”But you don’t normally post on weekends,” you may be thinking. And you would be correct. But this isn’t an average weekend. For one thing, it’s Columbus Day weekend in honor of the discovery of the New World. It’s also a three-day long weekend, which means I get to sleep in on Monday morning. But the real reason I’m posting today is because it’s my birthday.
That’s right, tomorrow, October the 11th, I officially turn 38 years old.
It’ll be a low-key kind of day – my family and friends will most likely call and bid me good wishes and my husband will probably go out of his way to make it a celebration, which I always enjoy. In fact, we usually go out of town for the weekend but with everything going on this year, we decided to keep the celebrating to a minimum which means we’re just hanging out at home and enjoying each other’s company.
I used to make a bigger deal of birthdays when I was younger because after all, it’s a day to be grateful to be alive and to think back on everything that’s happened in your life so far. It’s just that each year I find it so hard to believe that I’m getting old! It’s tough to realize that I’ve somehow gone from this:

to this:

in practically the blink of an eye. Where has the time gone? One minute I’m having my first date and graduating from high school and the next minute I’m married with a baby on its way.
Well, wherever it’s gone, I will say this: I’m glad to have had it, and I look forward to much more to come.
Aren’t birthdays great?
When is YOUR birthday? Do you usually do anything special for your big day?
