The weather was beautiful here in DC yesterday. It was sunny and warm but not hot. In the shade, with a nice breeze going, it was actually quite perfect.
Since it was so nice, I decided that the little guy and I should go for a walk. As I lathered on the sunscreen and tied the straps of his little hat I told him about our plans. He gave me a big grin to show me that he approved of my plan.

A short while later he was buckled into his car seat and stroller and away we went. We walked for about 40 minutes going up hills and down as we made our way through the neighborhood. Oscar kept us company and even made a few friends along the way.

Not to be outdone, I met a few people when we walked past a couple of ladies standing in their front yard with their dogs. As Oscar did the customary greet and sniff with their golden retriever and beagles, the ladies asked what kind of dog he was. ”A Cockapoo” I replied, laughing as he frollicked with his new friends.
“And how old is your baby?” the other lady asked, as their attention shifted to the stroller I was pushing.
I had to think about it a second before replying, “12 weeks.”
“Well, I don’t know which is cuter, the baby or the dog,” one of them said. (Side note: when I relayed this conversation to the CPA, he said, “that’s easy, the baby is because he looks like me.” What can I say, the man is modest to a fault.)
I thanked the sweet women and as I turned to leave, one of them said, “You are one lucky lady.”
I smiled as we continued down the street because I know just how right she is.
I am one lucky lady.
