Life is Made Up of Defining Moments

Life is made up of defining moments.  Like the time you go on your first date.  Or the first time you meet your future husband.  Then there’s the moment you graduate from college and realize you are officially a grown up.  Or the time you learn that you are finally going to be a parent.

Then there is the moment that you try real food for the first time.   For Henry, this defining moment took place last week.  (Ignore the laughter please, I can assure you that no babies were harmed during the making of this video.)

Needless to say, it didn’t go so well.

I’m guessing it won’t be one of those defining moments after all.

Poor baby.

Any suggestions on how to make next time a little better?

But it’s going wonderfully!

I remember spinach being blown all over the baby, myself and everything around!

He’s gorgeous and the two of you are a pair of perfect parents!

It’s just a matter of try, try again until they adjust to the flavor. You kind of have to sneak in a bite here and there between bites of something he likes.

But I like his “what the heck?” face very much. I’d be tempted to do that to him everyday. ;)

They eventually get it. I’m impressed at how well he took it in to start. Nate’s first attempts were such a mess, as were both the girls’. There may be foods he truly doesn’t like too–Gabby gagged on peaches every time. She also didn’t like anything green–she turned a little yellow, but the doctor said she was fine. Happy eating!

ha~ Mary, I agree! It still cracks me up every time I watch it, especially when he starts banging on the tray. Silly boy.

How adorable. He really did well and I think his calmness was a reflection of your calmness. Way to go!

Has he started to trust you again? Hilarious!

I like how he thinks it’s gross and then after he swallows has a happy giggle. Then he happily accepts more and makes the face again. It seems he’s just determined to eat it, but he can’t get over how yucky green beans are! So precious. You have a handsome little man there. :)

Aww the cutest video ever!! I distinctly remember the boys being the same way about something, but they say to keep trying food again and again. Maybe alternate with something he loves.

How cute! Reminds me of our first tries!! I started Parker on squash first and that has remained his favorite veggie, although he eats all of them very well. It may help to let him play with it some too….strip him down and let him play with his spoon and a dollop of food on his high chair tray. Some kids are more curious than others and once you let them satisfy that curiosity and experiement on their own, they’re good. Also, just keep trying, Parker hated plain mango but loved the apple mango cereal. Go figure!

Tabitha – He is a cutie!!! I have absolutely no expertise in this area, but I’m sure Henry & You will get the hang of it soon enough. :) What a cute video…Do you use the flip phone?!

He did very well!! Though he didn’t look like he liked the taste too much, he still ate wonderfully! Try some of the baby food I recently made, my babe can’t get enough of it. :) Haha. He’s doing great though…. I can’t believe how old our little guys are getting!

Yeah, really, that’s not bad for a first try! I always thought the green beans looked the worst. When Will didn’t like something, I always mixed it in with some cereal (which he really liked)…so a big bite of cereal with a little green beans. Next try something sweeter like peas or squash or sweet potatoes. Those are the best :) . You are doing great! And Henry is such a doll! I love those first faces when they are trying new foods. Will actually shuddered a couple of times…sad!

The looks on his face are priceless! It’s great you got them on video.
