Goodbye DC, Hello Georgia

Only temporarily of course, but the title says it all: I’m in Georgia.  Correction: Henry and I are in Georgia, where we’ve been for the past week.  The two weeks before that I was so busy that I barely had time to keep my head above water as I was averaging 2-3 shoots a week and all of my spare time was spent on editing and business-related items.  Then there was Christmas on top of that, not to mention getting ready to leave for two weeks.  Needless to say, this here blog has been neglected.  I realized it had been too long when I had to stop and remember the password to log in.

But alas, I’m here now and life is returning to normal.

If normal includes buying a brand new car (which we did).

And refinancing a home (which we are).

First, the car.  We ended up going with none of the cars that we had looked at previously.  Funny, huh?  We got a Ford Flex instead.  The outside has to grow on you a bit, some would say it’s “retro.”  I would say it’s ugly.  Ugly in a cute way.  But the inside, oh the inside, is glorious.  I can sit behind the CPA with his seat extended fully to allow room for his 6’8″ frame, and I still have four inches before my knees touch the back of his seat.  And driving the thing is smooth as silk.  There’s plenty of space and lots of cool knobs and dials that make the experience ultra-high tech.  Backing up is easier than you’d think with the built in camera and video screen and there’s lots of room in the third row and the trunk for storage.

So without further ado, allow me to present to you Felix the Flex:

Okay, that isn’t my picture because we only had the car a week before I left town, but that’s exactly what he looks like – silver with a black roof.  He’s dreamy.

Now on to the house update.  Remember how we had our house on the market back in October?  Well, we only had it for sale for about six weeks before deciding deactivate our listing and hold off on selling.  So now we are staying put and are refinancing to take advantage of the low interest rates.  It will cut our mortgage down significantly which is great, but the process has been never-ending.  It’s been interesting to see just how much they’ve “cracked down” since the whole market debacle a few years ago.  And by interesting I mean difficult, time-consuming, and frustrating.  But I understand the reasoning behind it and I’m sure it will be worth it in the end.

So that’s my update in a nutshell.

Now I’m just waiting for the CPA to join us tomorrow and for the Christmas festivities to commence.  Actually I’ll settle for having help with a rambunctious 22 months old, the Christmas fun will be a bonus.

Until then, I’ll leave you with a few pictures that I took on our walk down the Silver Comet trail the other day.  And if I don’t have a chance to say it before Sunday – Merry Christmas to you all!

(ps, pics aren’t working right now, will add when I can…)

My family rented a Ford Flex back in 2009 when we drove to Disney World and we loved it. So much room and so comfortable!
