Starting the Year off Right

I am such a cliche.  I’m sitting down with my computer in hand ready to write my list of goals.  I realize that something like 99.9999 percent of people leave their New Year’s resolutions behind by February, but I can’t seem to help myself.  I feel like if you don’t have goals or plans, you can’t get anything done.

At least this year I’ll keep it fairly simple:

1) Get pregnant.

2) Get pregnant.

3) Get pregnant.

There, that wasn’t too hard.

Okay, maybe there are a few more I should add.  I wouldn’t want it to seem like getting pregnant is the only thing I want to do all year because it’s not.  I have a lot of business goals I want to accomplish to see my business grow and to continue to develop my technical skills.  I want to take better care of our house and I want to be a better mother and wife.  Then there’s the ever-popular  ”get healthy” goal that’s on my list every year.  And we can’t forget the “write more blog posts” goal, that’s an all-time-favorite.

What it boils down to is that I want to be a better person.  And today, January 2nd, seems like the perfect time to start making changes where they need making.  So I’ll start small and I’ll be realistic.  I’ll be kind to myself and not get upset if I mess up here or there in the process.  I won’t create too many expectations so that I don’t feel like a failure when I fall short.  And I’ll be understanding if and when February comes and I have start over again.

That’s the goal anyway.

What about you?  Any New Year’s resolutions?

I hope you reach your goals (no. 1-3) but I do hope that doesn’t mean triplets!!!!! I chose a word last year to focus on instead of the list of resolutions and I loved it so much I chose one this year to. My 2012 word is “enough”. I am enough. My best is enough. I have enough. I can’t wait to see how I embrace this word this year. Happy New Year!

I had to smile at your numbered list. Sorta looks like part of mine. I love the idea of focusing on goals because without them, I feel lost. Good luck on all yours!

Myself (and my husband) both have a truck load of goals we want to accomplish this year. Some big, some small. We feel we’ve put things off long enough, yadda yadda… We even started a new blog about our journey through these goals. Fingers crossed I don’t give up – like you say – by February!! Any other year I probably would. But hopefully having the blog will light a fire under us to keep us going…

Good luck in your goals – I hope you are blessed with another little one! :-)

Take care,
Chantelle

Oh – I love your goals for the year. I wish I could get my man to agree to those sorts of goals.

Good luck & keep us posted.

Ciao!

Well, I wish you luck on goals 1-3. Just keep practicing until you get it right. ;-P

I’m going to work on my health. That means diet, exercise, doctor and dentist visits. Whatever it takes. I’m getting older and my body wants to get there real quickly. I need to put the breaks on that.

Hope you had a happy holiday! Happy 2012. *goodthoughts*

what a great new year’s resolution. :o ). I also like the being a better person one as I think that’s what we all aim for. For 2012, I’m aiming to go paleo and to go on a trip with my mom and to eliminate my credi card debt and to prepare myself to eventually leave my corporate job :o )

Ah…..a new year and so many possibilities!!! I always think it’s so exciting when Jan. comes around and you reflect on what you must do, what you would like to do and what would be fun to do. Health is always high on my list as well, you’d think that at my age I would have learned how to do better with it but alas I’m always trying to get where I should be in health issues – the almost perfect weight, more exercise in my daily life, etc. This year I’ve added a new goal – to be a more active grandparent in the lives of my grandchildren. Going to be a challenge since 18 of them live out of state. But I’m thinking and looking up ideas that will help me reach this goal. They mean the world to me and I know I can be a positive influence in their lives – now to figure out how to show my love for them long-distance and they really know me…….it’ll work somehow.

I love your goals….you’re persistant and you’ll reach them all!!! Personally I really look forward to you’re announcing when you have reached number 2….just kidding!!!

Have a wonderful 2012 and as always I look forward to your posting more and sharing your amazing photography skills too.
