We’re getting ready to put our house back on the market. If you will remember, we went through this back in October where we had the house listed for a whole six weeks. The past five months we’ve been living in our house while half of our stuff has been living in an off-site storage facility. We are beyond ready to get this show on the road. But when we met with some realtors this week, we were told that in order to get the house sold, we would have to update our bathroom and kitchen. As charming as the original black and white subway tile is, it’s showing its age and not in a Brad Pitt aging-gracefully kind-of way.
Hence the redo. As I’m writing this, our bathroom has been completely stripped and looks like a war zone. They’ve laid the floor tiles and will be doing the shower tomorrow. The kitchen will be done after that.
In the meantime, we’ve been house hunting and getting ideas from other people’s kitchens. This is one of my favorites:

Notice the tile floor and the gorgeous cabinets with the glass doors. Love those. I also love the dual sinks on opposite sides of the room as well as the size of the refrigerator and the gourmet quality appliances.
Of course it’s kind-of what you’d expect in a house that costs close to $900,000, isn’t it?

The kitchen above is nice too. It was in a smaller home and one that was closer to our budget (by, um, several hundred thousand dollars). But it still didn’t “speak” to me.
This one, however, was calling my name from the minute I walked in the door.

Look at that openness, that counter space, that backsplash. I think I’m love.

Isn’t it gorgeous?
Now I know I can’t make our little kitchen look like one of these, especially since it’s about a quarter of the size. But I can sure try. And one day, hopefully in the very near future, we’ll have a dream kitchen of our own. Until then, I’ll just take pictures of other people’s kitchens and live vicariously.
What does your dream kitchen look like?
